Blue Jays left fielder Joey Loperfido left Toronto’s Tuesday game against the Colorado Rockies in Denver after being hit on the knee by a pitch in the sixth inning.
Loperfido was batting against Rockies reliever Angel Chivilli when he was struck on the outside of his right knee with a 98 mph fastball. He was looked at by a trainer and then went to the dugout with his arms around a trainer and manager John Schneider.
Loperfido, who made his season debut July 6, is hitting .389 with three home runs in 24 games. He went 1-for-2 on Tuesday.
An inning earlier, Colorado third baseman Orlando Arcia was removed from the game with an apparent right hand injury. Arcia singled to right and was shaking his right arm as he ran to first, and he was replaced by a pinch runner moments later.
Arcia, who went 1-for-2, is batting .186 through 58 total games for the Atlanta Braves and the Rockies this year.
